Welcome to the Nashville Breastfeeding Coalition.
Our group of volunteers (Doctors, parents, CLCs, IBCLCs, community advocates, nurses, nutritionists, local and state health department professionals, and more) will organize and complete community projects we believe will have an immediate impact on helping moms initiate breastfeeding and continue according to her individual goals. The Nashville Breastfeeding Coalition is outward focused on initiating direct, positive change within our community.
Our initiatives focus on the following five areas:
- Educate women prenatally
- Remove hospital obstacles
- Help moms during initial days at home
- Reduce cultural barriers
- Remove return-to-work barriers
We want you to know you are never alone in your breastfeeding journey and we’ve put together resources to help you. Especially check out the calendar in Resources and Support. There is a group meeting that can help almost every day of the month. You can also call the lactation department at your birthing facility and there are groups that schedule lactation appointments and even some that make home visits. Having challenges? Keep asking and pushing until you get the help you need. Know that there are a lot of people working to help moms and babies meet their breastfeeding goals.
